Barrett, MT / Dillon – Tuesday May 21, 2019

Got out for some fishing today.

I fished the whole bend out in front of where the GPS points cut across the point. I had the GPS inside my fishing pack so must have missed some transmissions, or it went in the 4 hour mode. I wasn’t moving very fast, tied a lot of flies into the line.

This is the first time I have used my new 10 foot 5 weight.

I got this one monogrammed.

Think I’m really going to like it, the extra foot makes a difference and this is the best rod and reel ORVIS makes.

Dillion, MT Barrett’s Dam – Friday May 17, 2019

358 miles all in the rain. Had the wipers on intermittent a couple of times but that’s the best it got. Dennis and Ed are returning from Utah and they rented a truck in Boise rather then ride for 10 hours in the rain, money well spent.

Campsite picture

We were here for four days last year looking for fishable waters and that is why we’re here this year. The weather report for Butte says snow above 5500 feet tonight and we are at 5184. Have a full tank of propane and 70 gallons of gas so we are good for a long time.

Cottonwood Campground, Navajo Lake Dam – Friday September 21, 2018

Went up the river above the BLM area
You can see the BLM parking area at the end of the road just down river from the yellow line where I fished.

This is a closer view

1 strike
1 18 inch trout

These are not very good pictures but this is the largest trout I have every caught.  The oval of my net is 16 inches and he was a couple of inches longer than the net.  I took me a while to get him to the net, I did not want to loose him.

Saw a lot of big fish but they were just not feeding.
