Palisades BLM CG – Friday June 15, 2018

Went into town today to get gas and more cold medicine.  Stopped at the Orvis store for fly recommendations, bought a couple of flies and then went to The Montana Fly Fishing Company store to get stuff to tie some purple worms.
Fished Three Dollar Bridge down stream with another dozen and a half fisherman, saw one 4 inch fish caught.  In the evening I tied up some purple worms.
No caddis hatch yet.

Palisades BLM CG – Madison River, Monday June 11, 2018

We are moving from Beaverhead River to the Madison River in hopes that fishing will have improved.
The drive:

We are at the Palisades BLM  Campground 28 miles south of Ennis, Montana.  This is the same campground we spend two weeks last year.
A nice spot right on the river.

This morning before we left Beaverhead I called the BLM office which covers this area to see if the water system they were working on last June was working.  I talked to two people, the first one didn’t know the second said the campground did not have water and since it didn’t have water the price is $8.00 a night.  On the way today we stopped at Walmart in Butte and then Lewis and Clark Caverns Campground to dump and get water.

When we got to the campground I found out the campground price is $12.00 because they now have water.  This is a BLM campground so we get the Old Guy price of $6.00.

This car truck accident was just ahead of use a mile and a half north of Ennis.

Beaverhead River, Fishing – Saturday June 9, 2018

Had a good time fishing for the first hour or so, then the wind came up and could not keep the hooks and line out of the brush.
When I got to the parking area it sounded like it was going to be great day.  Their was a guy who was come back to his truck to get a heavier rod.  He had hooked an amazing fish on his first cast of the day and was unable to land it so he was coming back for heavier rod.
I did not see any fish or have any strikes.  After lunch I ran into the guy from the parking lot, he was with two other people and one fish they got first thing in the day was the only fish they saw.

10 minute map.

Uploaded data map.
Where I was from the campground.

Beaverhead River, Fishing – Friday June 8, 2018

I got to go fishing today.  The guide we talked to will at the Bighorn River said the rivers were flowing at a 100 year level and the Beaverhead River was the best bet for fishing.
The water is clear but I did not have one strike, saw two.

I did track by fishing with the InReach satellite system.
This track is from the units 10 minute tracking.  Every 10 minutes it transmits it’s location to a satellite and it is record real time on a view able map.
The InReach unit records where it is each minute and stores that information inside the unit.  I can upload this information to the mapping system through my laptop.
Here is that map.
I don’t know why it produces the false locations like to ones high on the map away from the river, but sometimes it does.

Badlands National Park – Wednesday May 23, 2018

Tied some flys and thunderstorm.

Starting this on IPad and hopefully finish on laptop.

Jean is really nice about my mess, I do need to clean up each time I get done tying a few flies.

Started this post on my Ipad and saved it as a DRAFT and the WordPress app I am using on my Ipad actually saved to draft to the server and not just locally on the Ipad.  This is good.

We had thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.  Wednesday I spent some time taking pictures.

We got a lot of ran and most of the people in tents had to leave.  Water was standing everywhere even on the flat ground.
