Wanapum State Park, WA – Sunday May 15, 2016

Here is today’s drive, in site 8 will add campsite picture later.

Both Jean and I commented today that it was nice to be back out on the road.  We will be moving East with the goal of being at Yellowstone Natl Park on Monday May 23rd.  We cannot get there early because we already have reservations for two weeks and that is the max time at Madison Campground.

Seems warmer on this side of the mountains with a few sprinkles this afternoon.  At 8:30 this evening it started to RAIN so it might be a “Listen to the rhythm of the falling Rain” kind of night.

Three Island Crossing State Park, Glenns Ferry, ID – Monday April 4, 2016

First off I forgot to take campsite pictures today.

We are in site 56 in the lower campground.  Today was the longest drive for this trip home 433 miles.  This is where I had already planned to spend the night however about 10 miles before we got here the wind REALLY came up and if this wasn’t the plan we would have pulled off here anyway.   The motorhome ahead of us since Twin Falls had his large awning being blown open the last 5 miles or so.  He pulled off I-84 just ahead of us.   Several years ago I bought an awning lock which is made just for days like today, ours didn’t move.  Having the awning deploy while you are driving down the highway is not fun and usually destroys the awning.
Campsite picture.

These two sites are listed as separate campsites.
Look how close the picnic tables and campfire pits are located.

This is the awning lock I was talking about.
Today’s drive.
Drove around a little looking for a pull through site out of the wind.

Goodyear, AZ – Tuesday March 1, 2016

Today we drove from Quartzsite to Goodyear, AZ where we will be for the month of March, Mariner’s Spring Training.
Today’s drive.

Aerial of where we are staying for the month.

Ever popular campsite pictures.

This is an 55+ community/resort that was originally design to have small double wide homes put on the sites.  It looks like since the sites have not sold very well the resort rents out  the open sites to seasonal or monthly rentals.  This works out great for use because we have a site which is 60 feet wide. Lots of space and we are across the street from one of the golf holes so we even have some open space.

We are 25 miles from Peoria and the baseball field however Tuesday it only took use 30 minutes both ways traveling on 4 lane highway 95% of the trip.

Hi Jolly – Quartzsite, AZ – Saturday February 27, 2016

Here is our home in the desert:

WordPress as added a  new feature since I’ve posted a bunch of pictures.  When selecting a group of pictures wordpress creates the format.

And this is our view:
Rainbow with no rain.

This rainbow in the thin clouds was really cool, beautiful day 85 inside the motorhome.

Last night I got out and played with the 4.33 inch telescope Brian and Christine gave me for Christmas.  I looked at a planet (don’t know which one) and a bunch of stars.   I also spent a while looking at the moon, know that was cool, I actually knew what I was looking at.  I will get out and look at stars again tonight.  After our drive down here I was really tired last night, the kind of tired where you feel yourself running out of gas.

Near Quartzsite, AZ – Thursday February 25, 2016

Another day on the road.

Our goal today was a boondocking area just north of Quartzsite, Az.  However, we didn’t make it.  About an hour into today’s drive we got a rock into the driver’s side window.  The star in the window is the size of a quarter.
Stopped in Palm Spring/Cathedral City to get the window fixed.  The first place we looked for was no longer at their internet address.  I think a lot of the window fix places don’t have a physical location any longer they all work out of mobile vans.  The second place has a physical location but I could not get the motorhome close to their building.  When towing the car I cannot backup so I don’t drive into a parking lot I don’t see a way out of without having to back out.
We drove around the block several times before I could find a place to park.  Ended up in a strip mall lot a block away.  They came over in their mobile truck and fixed the window.  They did a really nice job however this took us three hours
We ended up at a rest stop just inside Arizona and 20 miles from the boondocking area we were looking for.   It was 6:10 and decided it wasn’t worth the hassle of trying to find a boondocking campsite in the dark.
Another rest spot campsite.
