These are some of the pictures I took during the week.
This was a great time with the Garcia’s
We had a great time while at Pleasant Valley. Brian came over on Friday and stayed until Tuesday and the Garcia’s were there the 9 days. Had some rain on Friday night and the rest to the time is was clear and sunny. A couple of nights got down to 37 and 38 with all days in the mid 70 to 80. Measuring the amount of dirt on Jack and Bryn they had a good time but were ready to return home for some internet and WiFi.
We are here for 9 days this year. We had planned a family camp at Kaner Flat 12 miles down the road August 21 to 25 for my birthday May 31 I turned old 70.
Then move to Salmon Cove for Jeff’s group camping trip. A couple of months ago we got a notice that Kaner Flats was not going to open this year and Jeff got a notice that Salmon Cove was not going to open either. We were able to get these reservations for August 21 to 30 and many of the people from Jeff’s group moved to Pleasant Valley. The Covid and weather (fire ban) reduced Jeff’s family groups down to four and us from 14. For us it ended up working out for the best because the Little Naches road to Kaner Flats was closed because of fire at the top of the ridge. Things have sure changed over the years. We have camped at Kaner Flats with fire half way up the valley and helicopters picking up water in the pond just west of the campground. While we were at Pleasant Valley the 17 sites were no more than 2/3’s full on the weekend and two other sites during the week. All the reservable sites had reservation signs on them and no one showed. Covid and weather probably biggest factors. Lot of people will not go camping if they can not have a campfire. Mel and Laura had reservations for three nights but they didn’t come because of all the fires in California and they didn’t want to leave their home.
