Penrose – Monday May 26, 2014

After yesterday’s rain this morning was nice and sunny.  Hank and I went for a walk but didn’t get to far, the wind came up and it looked like it was going to rain.

Hank decided he’d get some practice in for our future retirement (this picture was taken before we took our walk).

37 days  AND COUNTING.

Here’s today’s walk –

Fort Flagler – Saturday, May 17, 2014

Great day at Flagler, Hank and I had a good walk and it was sunny all afternoon. I got a little sun burn.

I’m typing this on an iPad version of WordPress so we’ll see if it will let me put up more than one picture. Here is site 87 again:

Hummm. I see the code for picture’s location but no picture.

Here is our walk:
This is a rhodendron I saw:

This is our last trip to Flagler for a while. We will be at Penrose for the holiday weekend and home all of the weekends in June. July 3 starts retirement and most of July and August in the Cascades hiking and camping, then it’s south to Utah and the Southwest for September October and most of November.

Times to publish this to see what I get. Harry

Fort Flagler – Sunday May 4, 2014

Saturday was a nice day.

Tanya and Mike came by for a while, Hank and I got out for a walk although it was cut short by the threat of rain.  We were on the other side of island with a stiff wind and big clouds so we cut across the middle of the island.
I want to post a picture of our walk and the app which keeps track of my work count down. I’ve used this app for years to count down to vacation.  I’ll post the text and then come back and add the pictures.

Fort Flagler – Saturday May 3, 2014

Nice sunny morning, temp at 60 degrees, setting outside listening to Wait Wait.
We have been working on our retirement count down. Jean’s last day will be June 30th and mine will be July 3rd – that is 61 calendar days with 42 work days. I’m not sure how to type and express how much we are looking forward to this event but we are.

Current plan is to spend July and August at Crystal Mountain hiking and enjoying the mountains. I will be 64 this year and not sure how many years Hank and I will be able to climb up a mountain side. Last week in August we will move south to spend Labor Day in Reno with my brother than on to Zion National Park for two weeks starting September 10th. Than on to Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The goal is to be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas than south in February/March to be in Phoenix for spring training. We will spend the spring in the Southwest and home for the “Summer”.

That is our current plan. Stay tuned for July 3rd count down and follow the adventure. I still plan on posting a picture of each campsite.

Have a great day, in 3 hours and 10 minutes it will be 60 days.

Fort Flagler – Friday May 2, 2014

Back to Flagler for the weekend I left work at 11:15 and we got here at 3:00.  We’re in site 89 again,
Even with the early arrival most of the sites were taken.  The state has been working hard at coming up with more ways of getting money out of us.  When we were here on March 30th there was a sign saying that camping rates were going up on April 1st however the new rates would NOT be posted until April 1. Here is the new camping pricing matrix;

Each site is identified with letters to tell you how much the site will cost. There are weekday rates and weekend rates, along with three seasonal rates: winter – shoulder – summer. Also each park has a different definition for the three seasons.  Thanks Jay.

The park has added a chart showing how much each site will cost

Remember this is only for the Shoulder season.  I think the rates go up $2.00 for summer.

I’m writing this on my phone and I think my first two pictures have disappeared.

Edit: looks like I can post one picture at a time.
