My Life and Travels
Just as the sun started to leave the river. 102 today in sunny dry heat.
The drive.
These front row sites have a large covered area and beautiful view of the river and hills.
Last fish of the trip, 11 inches. Fishing is slow I was the only one on this part of the river this morning.
Monday we will leave early, Winslow is going to have 50 mph winds sometime after 11:00 a.m.
I did get to use my new $3.00 Goodwill WhirleyPop.
It works great.
This is the only fish I saw caught today, slow fishing.
After fishing we went to the Marble Canyon Post Office and picked up the tickets we purchased for an early morning breakfast at the Balloon Museum on Thursday October 12. I purchased the tickets last winter however they were not mailed until after we left home. Zach sent them General Delivery to the Marble Canyon Post Office. Thanks Zach!
This is the same fish. Taking these pictures can be interesting. Standing in the middle of the river, fly rod, fish in net, camera. That’s three things and two hands.
I net the fish, get the hook out, take a picture and then use the 12 inch marking on the net frame to measure the fish. Then it’s fish free into the river. Nice sunny morning.
Got this one on my third cast this morning. It’s a good 14 inches.
I moved about 20 yards up river and after a while I got this one, again a 14 inch fish.
Both on Wooley Buggers, first one on a black, the second one a brown wooley bugger.
By this time there were at least twelve people fishing this area and I didn’t have anyplace I could move to without interfering with someone else. I fished for another half an hour and called it a day at 10:00 a.m. I didn’t see anyone else catching any fish. I had a great time.
This is the view from our campsite for the next week or so.
These two pictures are while I am fishing in the river. Kind of a great place to fish.
These are both about 12 inches.
The top one is a rainbow however the lower one is rainbow colored without any of the spots. Got them both on a black wooley bugger.
The guy at the fly shop said after you catch a fish you really need to move to a new location, the fish spread out while when one is catch.
We will be here awhile so might as well have the best view in town.
Today I am going to Lees Ferry Fly Shop to get an Arizona fishing license and guideness on where to fish and what flys to use.
The wind s blowing hard today. We have had guests in the 45 – 50 range, glad we moved yesterday we would have had to stop if we were driving today.
