A Long Week – Saturday March 12, 2011

March 12, 2011: I just found this post in the DRAFT folder.  I wrote it and it never got published, I’m publishing it the way it was originally written.  I don’t think I’m up to reading it.  Maybe later this week.  Harry

It has been a long week since we got home from vacation.  We got home on Saturday evening about 7:00 p.m.  We were unloading the motorhome when all three of the kids came by the house.   We were talking in the kitchen waiting for Jean to come up from the basement.  I was talking to Brian when I saw a big red mark on his collar-bone just down from his neck.  I asked him what had happened and he said, “We better get Mom here so we can have a family meeting”.

The meeting was to let Jean and I know that Brian had been diagnosed as having cancer on Monday September 13.  Over the last two weeks he had been through a whole battery of tests to confirm the type and stage of the cancer.   They know it’s lymphoma and believe it’s at level two, just don’t know which type of non-hodgkin lymphoma.

CHRISTMAS PAST

March 12, 2011: wrote this in December and it never got published.  Harry

A tree from Christmas past.

HANK, NEW MILE STONE

When we first got Hank he was quite a challenge. He didn’t know how to play and would try to take your hand off if you got to close to anything he might think was his.  It took a long time to teach he to chase a ball and than bring it back.  After a lot of work we got him to drop the ball so we could throw it again.  The next step was to get him to drop it in our hand, this required a considerable amount of growling before he’d let go and drop the ball.  Tonight he repeatedly let me take the ball right out of his mouth.  After the 5 or 6 times he even quit growling.  Hank’s almost a normal dog.  !!!!!!!

Plumbing – Wednesday February 9, 2011

The house re-plumbing is going really well.  Tonight we are using the new water lines in the whole house.   We have new water lines from the water meter and throughout the house.

I think all that is left is to hook up the two new toilets and replace the drain line for the upstairs sink.  We are green, 1.28 gallon toilets at$230.00 each.  Being green is hard and expensive.   I did have to cut out some more walls so Tim can change out the sink drain.  The current drain is 1 1/4 inch and the current code requires 1 1/2 inch line.  This means he will need to run the new 1 1/2 inch line closer to the drain vent.    I’ll add more pictures to the website this weekend (that’s my goal anyway).  Now all I have to do is drywall the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms.

Happy Birthday Brian!!!  !!!!   If the phone rings at 00:01, no need to answer it’s just me.  Love ya.

Out With The Old – Friday February 4, 2011

Out with the Old or is it goodbye to the first 36/37 years of our marriage.  Jean bought NEW cooking pans. The picture is most of the lids, the pots just went into the dishwasher. Tomorrow 😦 the pots & pans that got us this far in life well be gone.  If you are in a goodwill and see an olive colored pan for 25¢ just know it could have been a significant part of my life.
Say goodbye pans.  :-(… live long and prosper.

Home remodel – Sunday January 30, 2011

It has been a while.  We just started a fun home remodeling project, new plumbing.  On Monday February 7th Jim Wetton Plumbing is going to replace all the water lines in the house from our side of the meter in.

I have all the necessary walls cut open and I think we are set to go.   I’ve taken a bunch of pictures and some of them are on my website, www.harrylange.com.  I have created a new section for Home Remodeling.

Friday night we saw Brian in Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog at the ACT.  He is Moist.   The production was really enjoyable and we all got to spend some time together.

Christmas is Past – Thursday December 30, 2010

Christmas 2010 has come to an end.   The tree is coming down and we are getting ready for spring 2011.
Not a great picture but a quick one from my camera.Poor tree without any lights.
It’s sad when the tree has to come down.
The tree used to go to into recycling and a little fire wood.
Now it goes into a box.
The tree was replace with a Spring time goal.   Hope you had as GREAT a Christmas as I did, Happy New Year.  Harry
