Another day on the road heading north.
We are staying at an Escapees Park in Sutherlin, Oregon – Timber Valley.
We are in Site 142.
All the sites in this park are owned/leased by a park member and are rented out to other Escapees Members when the owner is out on the road.
Today is the day to leave. Friday was still windy in the mountains and today is going to be 50 degrees in the pass and no wind.
We left Richard and Vickie’s at 10:00 and go to Weed at 6:11, 375 miles.
When we have space in these rest stops I have started putting the bedroom slide out a little, it sure helps to make the bed just a little bigger.
While I was eating lunch the other day I noticed this on the jar of pickles I was eating.
Notice these pickles are a product of India.
Here is the front of the jar.
Farman’s pickles was started in Enumclaw, Washington. We lived in Enumclaw until I was eight years old and I can remember the smell of pickles and chlorine as we swam in Pete’s Pool. The main road at that edge of town is still called Pickle Factory Road.
Farman’s was purchased by Nalley’s of Tacoma and now it looks like several other companies after that. By the way they still taste the same as they did 60 year’s ago.
This is our campsite for a couple of days.
They live on a hill and it takes a couple of blocks to get level.
Time to get moving. We want to be home for Thanksgiving and also want to stop by my brother’s in Sparks, NV on the way. We purchased 8 Lifeline AGM batteries and I need to pick up my 4 on the way home.
Today we are driving to Boron, CA and stay at a rest stop for the night. We have stayed here a couple of times on our way through California.
Today we drove around the Salton Sea making two stops. One at Salvation Mountain and than Slab City.
Here is the moon setting this morning.
Salvation Mountain
Slab City and the garbage left by the people who live there.
We drove up to Borrego Springs to see the sculptures. I took over 400 pictures and most of them are pretty good.
Here are a few.
Today’s drive
We are staying in West Shores RV Park in Salton City. It is going to be in the low 80’s while we are here and we want to see some of the sights so we needed air conditioning for Hank. One of those older parks that has seen better days. Part of the park was a marina however the water is so far away the marina doesn’t even exist any more.
We are close to the water and it is a lot cooler the inland.
Campsite pictures, in site 97.
