We have always had a TV in our motor home
however we seldom used it. I have watched several seasons of Law
and Order and misc movies during some winter weekend trips and that's
about all. With retirement we will be taking longer trips
and I thought having a TV might be nice. Last summer (7/2014) I
purchased a DISH TV Satellite system with a automatic Wineguard Pathway
X1 antenna. Since we spend most of our time in State and Federal
parks I wanted an antenna I could place out away from the motorhome to
find gaps in the trees. During our trip south this year I
discovered that this portable system will not work when we overnight at
a rest stop or Walmart. Setting the satellite on the ground next
to the motorhome does not make Walmart and State rest stop people happy,
I also don't want it to walk away. To solve this challenge I
designed and fabricated a roof top mounting system which will allow me
to easily and securely mount the antenna to the roof while traveling.

The piece of plywood will be the motor home roof with the two pieces
of aluminum channel bolted to the roof. |

This is the bottom of the antenna, the angled
aluminum will have notches which will go around the four feet, catching
two on each side. |
